St. Louis' Forest Park

Did you know that Forest Park is one of the largest urban parks in the entire United States?!  Yep!  It is approximately 500 acres  L A R G E R  than New York City's Central Park! It was home to the 1904 World's Fair and is currently home to several of St. Louis attractions:

Art Museum
History Museum
Jewel Box (Greenhouse)
Muny Theatre
Science Center
St. Louis Zoo

The following is a few photographs in the general area around the Art Museum, just to give you a hint at Forest Park's beauty.  {There will be posts dealing with each attraction individually.}

Grant's Farm

Oh my goodness! What an absolutely delightful place to go - even if, like me, you don't have
young children.

Grant's Farm is the historical home of Ulysses Grant, the 18th President of the United States,
located just south of the city of St. Louis, Missouri.
It is operated by Anheuser-Busch, Inc., and has been a St. Louis tradition for over fifty years.

First, a tram ride through the 160 acre deer park and then a stroll around the animal feeding/petting area, maybe catch an Elephant Show, take a Carousel ride, have some refreshment in the German Bauernhof and then see the world famous Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales.

All in all, Grant's Farm is a 281 acre wildlife preserve that serves as a living symbol of the Busch family's love for animals and Anheuser-Busch's commitment to wildlife conservation and preservation.

My beverage - a complimentary AB beer,
in fact, one or two for each adult ~
TEArific!

Good Day to you all,
Viktorija

The Lantern Festival

"Art by Day, Magic by Night"

The days were brightened and the nights were lit up at the Missouri Botanical Garden {St. Louis} last year as it hosted a spectacle rarely staged outside Asia!

An array of 26 larger-than-life lighted works of art from China were crafted from over 72,000 feet of silk and 40 tons of steel to celebrate Chinese culture and fable. Truly magnificent!

Enjoy watching a VIDEO here.

Anyone in the mood for a cuppa tea or two?!

Bridal Shower Tea Party

This was a first for me - An "Alice in Wonderland" Bridal Shower (Tea Party). Very unique and so much fun!
Each place setting was different - No two the same...
Everyone had their own teapot as well!  First come, first pick. It was interesting to see who chose what and the 'Bride to be' was elated with her special teacup!

Celebrating with tea,
Viktorija

The "Hitchhiker"

This story starts like many of my sunset chasing adventures; watching the sky throughout the day for signs of the perfect setup - clouds hanging low overhead, stretched out to the horizon - however, not so far that the setting sun cannot sink below and illuminate them in its last efforts to light up the evening sky. From late afternoon on, I look out at the sky for this special blend of events.

These adventures are, more often than not, spontaneous! This adds to the fun as I scoop up my camera gear and run out the door. The trick is to remember scenes from previous adventures and recall them in this mad dash to capture something new, under a fiery orange sky or the occasional soft pinks, purples, and blues. I find myself speeding towards a destination when, seemingly out of nowhere, a fleeting moment of light, color, and texture begs me to capture it forever before it is gone.

This was the case when it seemed the "Hitchhiker" reached out towards the road, looking for a ride, as if to say, "I've seen enough standing in this one place year after year". Would this gentle giant like to ride along with me in my little automobile, and become more than a spectator?

Always brewing,
Aaron

Solitude {and Tea}

© 2013 Have Tea Will Travel

I could visualize being alone here,
 waiting and staring off into the distance,
 clutching my cuppa tea, chilled to the bone,
 and yet at the same time -
not feeling cold at all.
A low fog blanketing nearby fields,
the sun being held captive
 behind the clouds, while gray drizzle
was descending all around.

Many hours would come and go
 as I sat alone in silence,
 gazing intently at the horizon,
meditating, contemplating,
wrapped in an heirloom quilt;
 feeling comforted and warmed
 by my only companion  -
TEA.

Keeping warm and sipping tea,
Viktorija

A Collaborative Journey {Have Tea Will Travel}

HAVE TEA WILL TRAVEL has launched!

The idea began a couple of years ago and due to the economy being what it was and still is, along with raising families with young children, and the not so young, who are moving, getting married, having babies, etc., now was as good a time as any to launch our evolving collaborative journey.

With tea in hand and/or while keeping an eye out for tea along the way, we will become tourists of our own state - Missouri!

Our endeavor is to share with you the simple pleasures of tea and the adventures of traveling and exploring areas closer to home that will hopefully inspire you in your surroundings.

While doing so, we will also be working on something Special and Unique - Creating a 'vision' to share with all of you. Research and compilation has begun!

Putting the kettle on,
Viktorija and Aaron
