The Lantern Festival

"Art by Day, Magic by Night"

The days were brightened and the nights were lit up at the Missouri Botanical Garden {St. Louis} last year as it hosted a spectacle rarely staged outside Asia!

An array of 26 larger-than-life lighted works of art from China were crafted from over 72,000 feet of silk and 40 tons of steel to celebrate Chinese culture and fable. Truly magnificent!

Anyone in the mood for a cuppa tea or two?!

Bridal Shower Tea Party

This was a first for me - An "Alice in Wonderland" Bridal Shower (Tea Party). Very unique and so much fun!
Each place setting was different - No two the same...
Everyone had their own teapot as well!  First come, first pick. It was interesting to see who chose what and the 'Bride to be' was elated with her special teacup!

Celebrating with tea,
Viktorija

The "Hitchhiker"

This story starts like many of my sunset chasing adventures; watching the sky throughout the day for signs of the perfect setup - clouds hanging low overhead, stretched out to the horizon - however, not so far that the setting sun cannot sink below and illuminate them in its last efforts to light up the evening sky. From late afternoon on, I look out at the sky for this special blend of events.

These adventures are, more often than not, spontaneous! This adds to the fun as I scoop up my camera gear and run out the door. The trick is to remember scenes from previous adventures and recall them in this mad dash to capture something new, under a fiery orange sky or the occasional soft pinks, purples, and blues. I find myself speeding towards a destination when, seemingly out of nowhere, a fleeting moment of light, color, and texture begs me to capture it forever before it is gone.

This was the case when it seemed the "Hitchhiker" reached out towards the road, looking for a ride, as if to say, "I've seen enough standing in this one place year after year". Would this gentle giant like to ride along with me in my little automobile, and become more than a spectator?

Always brewing,
Aaron
